For the Arden Theater’s First Friday Salon, we created a live marketplace, complete with eccentric vendors, elaborate rivalries, and goods to purchase for money or barter.
The action centered around the market’s annual bake-off, and the characters included fortune teller Lady Panthah, game master Gil Garroway, baker Irma Pickle, junk shop hawker Calamity Prudence, and strongwoman Annaford Marblepuff, as well as two audience-volunteer judges.
The event was extremely well-attended, and many audience members left with objects from Prudence’s junk shop and baked goods for which they traded stories at Irma Pickle’s stand.
