The Winter Warmup!!!

On January 30th, Applied Mechanics and their amazing friends descended upon Headlong Studios to get their aerobics on.  It was cold outside, but it was hot n’ steamy on the dance floor. MC Jane Hanoi (Amy Smith) guided us through the evening in her signature striped leotard, and fitness fanatics showed up in their best spandex leggings, booty shorts, leg warmers, and sweatbands.  The studio was packed for a sweaty, hour-long aerobics session led by some seriously energetic and creative aerobics instructors, and it stayed pumping throughout the night to the tunes of DJ Natty by Nature and DJ Aziz. Attendees were also treated to a live concert by The Hopefuls, an amazing punk band spitting hilarious election commentary.

If any of us had missed news coverage of the primary season, the Hopefuls caught us up with songs by Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Partygoers were treated to lyrics such as: “Bernie’s never wrong! Bernie’s aways right! Bernie’s old and white!!!”  Then our beloved Bandits took to the stage, with very special guest Amanda “The Glamron” Damron. They busted out Gang’s infamous tune “Rat Poison”, which was a total fan favorite. Then the Bandits played all their classics, and even unveiled a new number: a tribute to all of the awesome moms!  Newly fatigued exercise-enthusiasts partook of $1/minute massages offered in our makeshift “ski lodge” complete with a fake fireplace, gingery mixed drinks, and delicious home-baked snacks. Basically, this party totally rocked. If you’e feeling cold because of all this snow, just check out all these awesome photos, which will surely thaw you out!  Photos by Tasha Doremus.
